About the course
Today, being the 3rd leading cause of tooth loss, cracked teeth are considered as a real epidemic. From a clinical perspective theremight still be a huge di!erence between common sense and com-mon practice. This course focusses on the understanding of the origin of cracksand the advanced diagnostics. Early diagnosis is extremely power-ful in the demise of old school mechanical thinking. It will help thepatient in long term tooth preservation at reduced cost.Particular attention will be brought to the way how to adress theissues with the patient. Reforging bonds between patient, hygienistand dentist has never been so much fun and rewarding
BIO-MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR
The “molar lifecycle” or the “Circle of Death”, whereby a small"llingcan eventually lead to loss of vitality or even extraction of a tooth, iswell known. Nevertheless, a clear strategy and guidelines on how toprevent this dramatic scenario to develop has not been proposed.
Thorough understanding of the bio-mechanical behavior of teeth, both sound and restored, on a macro- and micro-level will allow usto come forward with e!ective measures to save teeth. A pro-activeapproach will be proposed, both for vital and non-vital teeth.
How to communicate with patients when dealing with cracks is the juicy cherry on the cake.
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
understand crack origin and progression
perform advanced diagnostics
differentiate between superficial cracks and deeper structural
dentin cracks
communicate concisely and fluently
help the patient with his positive behavioural change
This course is targetted both dental hygienists and dentists who want to be able spot and prevent cracks and fractures.
What others said about the dentist hands-on course:
"Crazy relevant. Wonderful speaker. Work to do forever."
Regitze Præstegaard, Denmark
"The course by Stephane Browet was great. He is a very talented clinician who gave a well-structured and systematical review of problems we meet every day and a well-founded treatment protocol. Stephane was very pleasant and kind and there is an extensive workload behind this course. Systematic diagnostics, a lot of how-to, full of practical tips. There is a not a day
at work where I don’t benefit from what I learned"
Vegard Winge, Norway
"I have a lot of patients with large fillings at my dental clinic, so different types of cracks in the teeth are a part of everyday life. After the course by Stephane Browet, I have a more systematic approach. Diagnosis, documentation, and classification form the basis for how I should treat the tooth and inform the patient. The aim is to prevent and restore the tooth in a tissue-saving manner."
Solveig Skaar, Norway
