About the course
DentaNet Dagen Norge – Reopening DentaNet Norway

Before 2020, DentaNet was a busy meeting place for dentists and dental hygienists in Norway, with courses, symposia and a strong professional network. Then Covid forced us to close our Norwegian activities.
In the years since, we have rebuilt DentaNet in Denmark with a long line of exciting new courses and world-class speakers – and now we are ready to come back to Norway.
We therefore invite members, former members, friends, partners and everyone else who is interested to celebrate the reopening of DentaNet Norway with us: a free day of high-level clinical lectures by Dr. Ian Buckle, Dr. Varkha Rattu, Dr. Agne Malisauskiene and Dr. David Gerdolle, followed by networking, an exhibition and drinks.
Join us at Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Oslo on Friday 19th of February 2027. Seats are limited, and the day is for dentists and dental hygienists only.

Diagnose Before You Design – Occlusion & Smile Design for Aesthetics That Last
Dr. Ian Buckle – 1.5 hours
Beautiful smiles that fail are rarely an aesthetic problem. More often, the cause lies in what was not diagnosed before treatment began: worn teeth, parafunction, an unstable occlusion or a vertical dimension that was never questioned.
In this lecture, Dr. Ian Buckle distils his 1.5-day course into one clear message: predictable aesthetic dentistry starts with the patient – not the teeth. Building on the principles behind his Essentials courses, Ian shows how examination, diagnosis, occlusion, facial and smile analysis and modern digital technology can be brought together into one coherent and repeatable workflow.
Through real cases, you will see how apparently straightforward aesthetic problems can turn out to be complex – and how a structured diagnostic process makes them predictable. Ian demonstrates how digital photography, intraoral scanning, digital smile design, virtual wax-ups and printed mock-ups allow you to design, test and approve the result before any irreversible dentistry is done, and how anterior guidance, tooth position and vertical dimension decide whether that result will last.
The lecture is built around four simple principles: Diagnose before you design. Design before you prepare. Test before you commit. And make aesthetics work within function.
Whether you have attended the Essentials courses or are new to occlusion-based dentistry, you will leave with a practical framework you can apply to everyday aesthetic cases – and a clearer answer to the central question: how do we create aesthetic dentistry that still looks good, feels good and functions predictably years later?
In this lecture you will learn:
Why the diagnosis must come before the design, and how to recognise when an apparently simple aesthetic case is actually complex
How to assess the worn dentition, recognise parafunction and identify patients at high risk of restorative failure before treatment begins
When occlusion matters in aesthetic treatment: conformative versus reorganised approaches, anterior guidance and vertical dimension
How to use digital photography, intraoral scanning and digital smile design to plan the treatment around the final result
How to test the plan with virtual wax-ups, printed mock-ups and provisionals before committing to irreversible dentistry
How to transfer the approved design accurately to the definitive restorations and protect the result long-term
About Dr. Ian Buckle

Dr. Ian Buckle qualified from Liverpool University in 1985.
He has over 20 years of experience in general practice both in the private sector and with the National Health Service. As a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD), British Dental Association (BDA) and Association of Dental Implantology (ADI), he completes over 100 hours of postgraduate education every year. Formerly The Dawson Academy’s Clinical Director, Dr. Ian Buckle has lectured nationally and internationally on functional and aesthetic dentistry.
Dr. Ian Buckle teaches the Essential Course Hands-on series, runs seminars and study clubs and provides continuing education to dental professionals, more recently across Europe.
He spends approximately two-thirds of his time in practice and the other third as an educator. He believes this balance keeps him on the leading edge of both disciplines.

MINST – The MINST Revolution – Redefining Regeneration of Infrabony Defects Non-Surgically
Dr. Varkha Rattu – 1.5 hours
This lecture provides dental hygienists with an academically grounded and clinically relevant introduction to the modern management of periodontal infrabony defects, with a specific focus on Minimally Invasive Non-Surgical Therapy (MINST).
Participants will receive a systematic overview of what infrabony defects are, how they develop, and how correct classification supports accurate diagnosis and evidence-based treatment planning.
The lecture presents the key biological and clinical principles of periodontal regeneration and demonstrates how these principles form the basis for non-surgical regenerative approaches. The MINST protocol is outlined in a clear and clinically applicable format, supported by scientific evidence and selected clinical cases that illustrate its potential as a minimally invasive, evidence-based alternative to surgical treatment.
By the end of the lecture, participants will be able to:
Understand the nature, etiology, and classification of infrabony defects and their significance in periodontal disease progression and treatment planning.
Describe the biological and clinical principles of periodontal regeneration and how these inform both surgical and non-surgical regenerative strategies.
Evaluate the rationale, protocol, and clinical evidence supporting MINST.
About Dr. Varkha Rattu

Dr. Varkha Rattu graduated from Queen Mary University of London in 2018 and completed her four-year Master’s in Clinical Dentistry (Periodontology) at King’s College London in 2025, graduating with distinction. She has extensive experience across both specialist practice and hospital settings, with her commitment to clinical excellence recognised through multiple national awards.
Actively involved in periodontal research, Dr. Rattu has published in leading peer-reviewed journals, serves as a reviewer, and was awarded the British Society of Periodontology Systematic Review Prize.
Trained under Professor Luigi Nibali, a leading figure in Minimally Invasive Non-Surgical Therapy (MINST), Dr. Rattu has developed particular expertise in this field. She is now a sought-after speaker, regularly delivering national lectures and hands-on workshops on MINST, sharing her insights into redefining non-surgical periodontal regeneration.

Connect the dots in direct anterior restorations
Dr. Agne Malisauskiene – Video lecture (30 min.)
Every day dentists are facing challenges in anterior free-hand restorations. Patients expect invisible margins, perfect shade and shape match. Dentists on the other hand want to provide efficient and reliable dentistry.
In this condensed video lecture, Dr. Agne Malisauskiene explores materials and methods of how to connect the dots in direct anterior restorations.
In this lecture you will learn:
How to notice tooth anatomical landmarks
How to know how much length to add when restoring worn or chipped anteriors
How to restore line angles, marginal ridges and tight contact
How to hide tooth - composite margins

Prosthetic retreatment, the contemporary solutions: Vertiprep and no-post fiber reinforced core for crowns
Dr. David Gerdolle – 1.5 hours
Over the last fifteen years or so, vertipreps or preparations for crowns without clear finishing lines have made a comeback.
These preparations offer the dual advantage of significant dental tissue savings, as well as unrivalled gingival conditioning and shaping. The icing on the cake is that, by optimizing the ferrule effect, they act in synergy with modern coronal-radicular reconstructions, which are adhesive and have no root posts, thus strengthening residual dental tissue, particularly in the case of prosthetic re-treatment.
Guided by a biomimetic and minimally invasive philosophy, you will during this lecture learn:
How to remove, or why not remove, existing coronal-radicular reconstructions
How and why to create an internal adhesive ferrule without a post
How to prepare vertically finished prosthetic margins
How to condition gingival tissue using temporary crowns.
