Art and Science of Anterior Composite Restorations:

Guidelines to High-End Esthetics and Long-Term Survival

Dr. Bora Korkut (T)

From this lecture participants will learn:

  • Understand the correct indications and contra-indica1ons for an anterior composite restoration.

  • Pre-restorative procedures and clinical application protocols.

  • Ability to select correct resin-based composite and instruments for the proper restora1on type.

  • Alternative composite shade selec1on techniques, clinically.

  • Anterior rubber-dam isolation materials and clinical applica1on.

  • Minimally invasive preparation protocols, clinically.

  • The ability to use the selected adhesive system correctly and learn photopolymerization protocols.

  • Monochromatic and monochromatic layering techniques.

  • The ability to use the selected resin-based composite with proper layering technique.

  • Additive and subtractive finishing techniques.

  • To perform an effective polishing protocol in a very short period of time, clinically.

  • Primary, secondary, and tertiary morphologies and how to perform them clinically.

  • The ability to operate a diastema closure, crown fracture, and full veneer restorations, clinically.

Synopsis

The developments of restorative materials and techniques have led to more aesthetic, functional, and long-lasting direct anterior restorations in a single visit. These restorations closely mimic natural dental tissues, offering the advantage of being minimally invasive and completed in a single appointment. Additionally, in many cases, no tooth preparations are even needed, which are considered non-prep restorations. Formerly considered disadvantages, such as instability and discoloration of these materials, are now not an important problem even in the long-term when a proper resin composite is selected and performed with correct indication and proper restorative technique. Some pre-restorative procedures, such as resin infiltration (ICON) therapy, tooth bleaching, and microabrasion, can support the longevity of these restorations. Crown fracture restorations, diastema closure restorations, and full veneer restorations are the major indications for the direct resin composites. Through the polychromatic layering, advanced restorations can be performed, while simpler restorations can be performed by monochromatic layering. Surface finishing and generation of natural-like morphology is also very important in the esthetic outcome. This lecture will provide not only the scientific evidence but also the clinical application, tips and tricks for single-visit direct anterior composite restorations, such as class III, class IV, class V, and build-up restorations. Simple clinical application protocols will be discussed for esthetic and long-lasting restorations through various clinical cases.

The 3rd part of the lecture will be a live demonstration.

Networking dinner Friday evening

We believe that a lot of valuable magic happens when we come together for a networking dinner. We create the perfect setting for exchanging experiences, meeting both new and familiar friends and colleagues, all while enjoying a fantastic evening. Both dentists, hygienists and dental nurses are more than welcome to join.

Our networking dinner will take place at an iconic venue in Copenhagen with both dentists and dental nurses being able to participate.

During the meal, we will introduce DentaNet’s well-known optional “networking switch,” ensuring that you naturally get the chance to meet new colleagues. Additionally, we have planned small, engaging networking games to further enhance the atmosphere and make the evening even more enjoyable.

During the Friday program you can choose to list yourself at the “fixed tables” and choose which people you will spend the dinner with. A lot of people choose not to and will end up at the “networking tables” where you are randomly seated and might get a new friend or perhaps even get the seat right next to one of the lecturers and have the opportunity to pick their brains. Seats are limited and booking is first come, first served!

Enhancing diagnosis and treatment planing with 2D and 3D tomography

Dr. Jorge Ferreira da Costa (PT)

During this lecture you will learn:

  • To master a systematic approach to OPG and CBCT to avoid "tunnel vision."

  • To identify diagnostic features of common jaw lesions and TMJ pathologies

  • Advanced imaging diagnosis and pathognomonic images of tumors

  • To integrate AI tools and 3D data (DICOM + STL) into predictable clinical workflows.

  • To apply EADMFR guidelines to justify imaging and ensure patient safety.

Synopsis

Stop guessing on 2D. Learn exactly when an OPG is no longer enough—and when a 3D scan becomes both a clinical advantage and a legal necessity. Enhancing Diagnosis and Treatment Planning with 2D & 3D Tomography is a high-energy 3-hour lecture for clinicians who prescribe Pan's and CBCTs and want real confidence in reading the volumes themselves. You’ll transition from viewing “just the teeth” to look at the entire 3D dataset—bringing sharper diagnostics, safer decisions, and a smoother digital workflow into daily practice.

Dr. Ferreira Da Costa will take you through:

  • The Systematic Scan: a step-by-step protocol to interpret OPGs and CBCTs without tunnel vision. You’ll use a practical checklist that guides you through airway, TMJ, teeth, and bone—so critical findings aren’t missed.

  • Technical essentials for prescribers: understand OPG limitations, and learn how FOV and voxel size act like diagnostic “magnification” in CBCT. He'll also cover how to interpret confidently despite artifacts such as metal scatter and beam hardening—so you can read “through the noise.”

  • Pathology identification: fast-track your ability to recognize key diagnostic patterns in common cysts, tumors, and jaw lesions, and improve your understanding of TMJ pathology (erosion, osteophytes, flattening).

  • Incidental findings that matter: including maxillary sinus pathology and carotid artery calcifications, plus an approach to airway assessment.

  • The Digital Twin workflow: learn how to merge CBCT (DICOM) with intraoral scans (STL) for predictable guided surgery and complex rehabilitations—without needing your own scanner. He’ll highlight common registration errors and how to avoid them.

  • Legal & ethical safety: align with EADMFR guidelines for radiation protection, justification, reporting duties, and out-of-field liability.

Tooth wear and resin injection moulding: lessons after 7 years

Dr. Kostas Karagiannopoulos (UK)

From this lecture you will learn:

  • To describe the evolution and digital innovations of the injection moulding technique

  • Learn about the predictability and consistency of digital workflows in managing the worn dentition

  • To compare injectable composites to paste ones as well as ceramics

  • What we know after 7 years of Injection moulding practice: advantages, workflows, limitations, complications

  • How and when to utilise fully guided resins as transitional to indirect

  • To handle the patient conversation, consent process and maintenance

Synopsis This lecture is a practical, experience-driven session designed for clinicians who want predictable, minimally invasive solutions for the worn dentition—without the hype. Drawing on seven years of real-world cases, you’ll see how resin injection moulding has evolved from an analogue “nice idea” into a digitally planned, repeatable treatment approach that can deliver highly consistent outcomes when executed with the right workflow.

Dr. Karagiannopoulos will start by mapping the evolution of the technique and the digital innovations that made it more reliable: from structured records and smile design to 3D planning, printed matrices, and controlled resin delivery. You’ll learn how to build a digital workflow that improves accuracy, reduces chairside uncertainty, and supports long-term management of tooth wear—especially when vertical dimension, occlusal stability, and aesthetics must all align.

A key focus is material strategy. He’ll compare injectable composites to conventional paste composites and ceramics, highlighting where each option shines, where it fails, and how to select the right material for the right risk profile. You’ll gain clarity on predictability, polish and wear behavior, repairability, and the biological cost of each route.

Most importantly, you’ll get an honest “after 7 years” review: advantages, common complications, limitations, and the small details that separate smooth outcomes from frustrating repairs. He’ll also cover how and when to use fully guided resin restorations as a transitional phase before indirect treatment—helping patients test-drive function and aesthetics while you protect tooth structure.

Finally, Dr. Karagiannopoulos will go deep on the patient conversation: consent, expectation management, maintenance protocols, and how to present long-term wear management as a partnership rather than a one-off procedure.
